I grew up in Hilo, along the shores of Keaukaha. My entire life I was blessed to simply look out the window and see Mauna Kea standing there in all her glory shining in the morning sun, protecting us and providing for us. Recent events, including the planned building of the TMT (Thirty Meter Telescope) atop our beloved sacred mountain have created a resurgence of aloha `āina within this current generation the likes of which we have not seen, that has instilled a renewed faith that we WILL prevail, our voices WILL be heard, and our culture WILL thrive for generations to come. This is my love song for my mauna and ku`u `āina hānau - my beloved homeland.
